Storm Dog K9 Training is a business comprised of current and retired Law Enforcement Professionals dedicated to training all aspects of K9 development for Law Enforcement Agencies. Our professional instructors use both traditional and modern training techniques to develop all areas of an agency's K9 program to include: Dogs, Handlers, Administrators, Back Up Officers and Tactical Team Members.
Our staff of instructors are certified, experienced and one of the most diverse in the United States. Past seminars and courses instructed have included: Police K9 Program Development, Dog Selection, K9 Handler Selection, Police K9/Handler Government Certification, K9 Case Law, Vicarious Liability for K9 Supervisors, Police Dog Instructor Program, Special Operations (SWAT) K9 Integration, Tactical K9 Tracking Operations for the Patrol K9 and Swat K9 Handler, Tactical Tracking Operations for SWAT Officers (High Risk Deployments), Urban Narcotic Interdiction Tactics, Highway Interdiction, Police K9 Funding, and K9 Psychology for Police Working Dogs. We currently offer the following Police K9 services;
1. Dual-Purpose K9 with Explosive or Narcotic Detection This is a 6-9 week course of instruction. Each working dog will go through a minimum of 3 weeks of pre-training prior to your handler’s arrival. 2. Explosive Detection Only This is a 4-6 week course of instruction with YOUR K9 Handler and one of our selection tested working dogs, that meets your department / handlers needs. Each K9 will go through a minimum of 3 weeks of pre-training prior to your handler’s arrival. 3. Narcotic Detection Only This is a 4-6 week course of instruction with YOUR K9 Handler and one of our selection tested working dogs, that meets your department / handlers needs. Each K9 will go through a minimum of 3 weeks of pre-training prior to your handler’s arrival. 4. Tracking Only This is a 3-5 week course of instruction with Your K9 Handler and one of our selection tested working dogs, that meets your department / handlers needs. Each K9 will go through a minimum of 3 weeks of pre-training prior to your handler’s arrival. 5. Narcotic or Explosive Detection with Tracking This is a 4-6 week course of instruction with Your K9 Handler and one of our selection tested working dogs, that meets your department / handlers needs. Each K9 will go through a minimum of 3 weeks of pre-training prior to your handler’s arrival. 6. Patrol K9 Only This is a 4-6 week course of instruction with Your K9 Handler and one of our selection tested working dogs, that meets your department / handlers needs. Each K9 will go through a minimum of 3 weeks of pre-training prior to your handler’s arrival. 7. Police K9 Trainer (Instructor) Courses We offer Police K9 Trainer / Maintenance Trainer courses in any or all of the following areas: A. Narcotic Detection B. Explosive Detection C. Tracking D. Patrol Related Fields E. Article Search 8. Tactical K9 Tracking Operations Level 1 This is an intensive 4 day seminar for K9 Handlers, SWAT Officers, Patrol and/or Back-up Officers who wish to develop team work concepts when deployed on a track (Man Hunt) with or without a working dog. This course of instruction is the answer for K9 Handlers who are having problems with tracking and / or air scenting in a rural or urban environment. This course is conducted during daylight hours and no dogs will be worked. 9. Tactical K9 Tracking Operations Level 2 This is an intensive 3 day seminar for K9 Handlers who wish to further their skills in K9 Team work from the Basic Level 1 or Advanced course of instruction. Emphasis on K9 distraction, conflict and deployments both on and off leash are worked. This is scenario based training with your K9 partner and dogs will be worked all 3 days. 10. Drug Interdiction / Hidden Compartments This is a 1 day course covering current trends in bulk transportation of narcotics and money. Specific areas of instruction include hidden compartment locations, interdiction questions, Public Bus Transportation, Search and Seizure and Case Law update and review. 11.
